  • COVID-19 update

With the substantial decrease of COVID cases people are now getting back to their normal life. At present, more than 50% of covid cases is due to omicron variant which cause milder illness compared to delta variant where the cases were much severe with higher rate of hospitalization. International flights are also now operating in full swing with no restrictions on travelers. Due to this, tourism sector now looks promising.   • Cholera in the valley

As per the Ministry of Health and Population, the number of cholera cases in Kathmandu valley has hit 14 people over the past few weeks. Nepal government has imposed ban on the sale of street food to prevent the fast spread of cholera in the capital city. Following good personal hygiene, sanitation practice and ensure drinking bottled or boiled water can help prevent the disease. We do not routinely recommend the cholera vaccine if you are able to be careful with what you eat and drink.”

 

 

 

  • Health Partnership

Post pandemic, CIWEC collaborated with three international events in Nepal as health partner.

The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Nepal Chapter hosted grand event welcoming and taking BBC Masterchef professionals 2020 for tour to Nepal to promote authentic Nepali cuisine and culture. CIWEC has been health partners with PATA since 2018 and joined the tour this year.

 

An international triathlon, Xtri World Tour came to Nepal and was organized by Himalayan Xtri, This extreme long distance triathlon was the first of its kind in South Asia. It was a pleasure to work as health partners with such a grand event where we provided First Aid Training to the volunteers, set-up medical desk at registration for basic health checkup of the athletes and provided end to end medical support including at Mardi High Camp at 3500m on the race day. Each year Himalaya Expeditions organizes Tenzing-Hillary Everest marathon and is considered to be the world’s highest trail running marathon. CIWEC stood as health partners in the marathon and supported it.

It was a pleasure to collaborate with all of these events which were a huge success.
