I had a totally unexpected arrhythmia the night before a big remote trek, I had to bite the bullet and seek an ECG when it didn’t stop. I arrived at CIWEC about 1:30 am, they had me hooked up and checked and also were very reassuring my given the emotional disruption I was coming to grips with. I couldn’t have asked for better specialist, nursing and administrative care and competence, as well helping me handle the the barrage of insurance admin and trekking team communications. Although I made a quick recovery they were suitably cautious about ongoing monitoring for 24h and reminded me that my health was more important and the mountains weren’t going away. I was shattered but the reminders helped. So if you happen to get sick and worry what might happen the CIWEC staff are as good or better than you will find anywhere.
