CIWEC is now equipped with a fully automatic Schiller TMT for cardiac stress test. A treadmill stress test, also known as an exercise stress test or a cardiac stress test, is a medical test used to evaluate how well your heart responds to stress or exercise. During the test, you’ll be asked to walk on a treadmill while your heart rate, blood pressure, and electrical activity of your heart are monitored.
The test typically starts at a slow pace and gradually increases in speed and incline or resistance to raise your heart rate. The goal is to increase your heart rate to a target level based on your age and fitness level. You’ll continue exercising until you reach your target heart rate, experience symptoms like chest pain or shortness of breath, or until your healthcare provider decides to stop the test.
The treadmill stress test helps assess the following:
- Heart function: It can detect abnormal heart rhythms, inadequate blood flow to the heart muscle (ischemia), and other heart problems.
- Exercise capacity: It provides information about your fitness level and how well your heart responds to physical activity.
- Symptoms evaluation: It helps determine the cause of symptoms like chest pain, shortness of breath, or lightheadedness during exercise.
The results of the test can help us diagnose heart conditions such as coronary artery disease, heart rhythm disorders, and heart valve problems, as well as determine the appropriate treatment plan.
